Australia has a network of relatively clean and accessible public toilets across the country, even in regional areas.
However, that’s not the case in other parts of the world, and Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Seres has come up with a solution to help those who may be in a desperate situation.
As reported by Car news China, Seres has patented a toilet that sits under the passenger seat – with voice activation for those who don’t want to get their hands dirty, according to a Car scoops Report.

According to the patent illustration, the toilet is mounted on a rail under the seat, providing easy access for those unsure of getting to their destination.
The debris goes into a removable tank that must be removed and emptied manually.
Seres has also included a heating element – presumably in the tank – to evaporate liquids and dry solids, as well as an exhaust fan to remove unpleasant odors from the cabin.
From the patent illustrations, it appears that the toilet was designed for those who prefer squatting rather than sitting.
The toilet appears to be a little more sophisticated than competitor Rox Motors’ solution, in which the center console can also serve as a toilet in an emergency.
As reported by Daily Sparkz From February 2026, the box can be used with a special plastic bag containing deodorizing and absorbing gel.
The center console toilet is part of a range of features and accessories designed for camping, including a rear kitchen, power sockets and an inflatable mattress.
It all seems to be the result of something of an arms race between emerging automakers in China, with each brand trying to offer the greatest number of features possible, including larger screens, seat massage and built-in karaoke systems.
