The Polestar 2 For the 2027 model year (MY27), the product range has shrunk slightly, with the entry-level “Standard Range Single Motor” version now being discontinued.
According to Polestar, the deletion “complies with customer requests for longer range vehicles.”
The mid-range electric liftback range now opens with the Long Range Single Motor variant, priced at $66,400 before on-road costs, unchanged from MY26 but $4,000 more expensive than the now-discontinued Standard Range Single Motor.
The MY27 Polestar 2 range arrives in Australia in mid-2026.

Aside from the addition of Pixel LED headlights and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system to the flagship Dual Motor with Performance package – a claimed $5,100 in added value at no additional cost – the Polestar 2 range remains unchanged.
This follows larger MY26 updates that introduced a new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor across the range and a slightly reshuffled spec list, including the availability of a 1350W 14-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
Pricing remained unchanged for MY26 – apart from a $4,700 increase for the Dual Motor Performance as the optional Plus Pack became standard – and remains unchanged for the carryover models for MY27.
With the standard range 70kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery dropped for MY27, only an 82kWh package is available.
This provides a WLTP range of 659 km in the long-range single engine version and 568 to 596 km in dual engine variants. The maximum DC fast charging power is 205 kW.
The standard series’ single motor, which no longer exists, had a range of 554 km and a maximum DC charging power of 180 kW.
All MY27 Polestar 2s feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google Built-in, adaptive cruise control, blind spot assist and a surround-view camera.
The Dual Motor Performance offers features such as a fixed panoramic glass roof and pixel LED headlights. However, some of its additional features can also be added to the Long Range Single Motor and Long Range Dual Motor through a number of option packages.
In the first quarter of this year, sales of the Polestar 2 rose 13.0 percent to 139 units. However, the mid-size SUV Polestar 4 has overtaken it in the sales race, with 307 units delivered so far this year.
The Polestar 2 outperforms the Hyundai Ioniq 6 (17) and the MG IM5 (101), but is outperformed by the Tesla Model 3 (1363) and the BYD Seal (934).
