450 kW is already an insane amount of power for a people mover – even an electric one – but for a premium Chinese car brand Zeekr would like to increase the heat even further.
CarNewsChina has submitted a submission to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for the update Zeekr 009which indicates a total output of 680 kW.
The updated 009 is expected to be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show in April and does not appear to have any design changes.

Instead, Zeekr has made various changes under the skin, with the luxury people mover also reportedly adopting a 900V electrical architecture after switching to an 800V system in China in 2024.
The move is expected to result in faster charging, but battery details have yet to be revealed. The current 009 for the Australian market still features a 400V electric architecture with a maximum DC fast charging power of 205kW.
It has a 116 kWh lithium manganese cobalt (NMC) battery and is offered with both a 250 kW/373 Nm single-motor front-wheel drive and a 450 kW/693 Nm dual-motor all-wheel drive.
The 009, available for the Chinese market, is currently available with either a single-motor front-wheel drive with 310 kW/440 Nm or a dual-motor all-wheel drive with 580 kW/810 Nm.
The Zeekr brand is owned by Chinese automotive giant Geely, which also owns brands such as Polestar and Lotus, as well as Volvo, which sells a version of the 009 called the EM90.
The Chinese premium brand was launched in Australia at the end of 2024 with the small electric SUV
In 2025, Zeekr shipped 1206 7Xs, almost twice as many as the smaller X at 665 units, despite only being on sale for a few months. With 123 units sold, the 009 was in third place by a wide margin in the sales race, although it clearly left its competitor Mercedes-Benz EQV (42 units sold) behind.
