The Zeekr 9X Luxury SUV and 7GT Electric cars have been confirmed for Australian showrooms as the Geely-owned brand expands its local offering to include plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).
In conversation with Daily Sparkz Speaking at the 2026 Melbourne Motor Show, Zeekr Australia managing director Frank Li said the 9X PHEV will be the spearhead of the brand’s new models over the next 12 months.
He also confirmed the 7GT electric wagon, while the 8X PHEV large SUV was previously announced as the brand diversifies its offering.
“We have three models on offer, namely 9X, 8X and 7GT…either this year or early next year. I think the 9X will be the first,” he said Daily Sparkz.

Both the 8X, expected for 2027, and the 9X, planned later this year, will sit above the popular 7X electric SUV in the Australian lineup.
The bold, angular 9X features a design reminiscent of Rolls-Royce, with an upright front grille, massive 22-inch alloy wheels and six seats in its 5.2 meter long body.
The Overseas 9X PHEV models are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with either two or three electric motors.
The total output of the system is 660 kW and 935 Nm in the two-motor version and 1030 kW and 1410 Nm in the three-motor version.
A 900V electrical system is standard, and there is a choice of 55kWh or 70kWh batteries, with an all-electric range on the CLTC cycle of up to 380km, depending on variant, and a total range of up to 1,250km.
Pricing and other details were not disclosed, but Mr Li said the 9X will be subject to the luxury car tax, meaning it will be priced above the current $91,387 threshold for “fuel efficient” vehicles.
The sleek 7GT is a powerful electric estate with a length of 4817 mm and a wheelbase of 2900 mm, putting it in size between the estate versions of the BMW 3 and 5 Series.
The 7GT was launched in Europe in January 2026 and is priced from 47,990 euros (US$79,585) in Germany. The price there is lower than the 7X, which is already sold in Australia.
The 7X starts at €54,990 ($91,194) in Germany and costs $57,990 locally (before on-road costs).
Australia doesn’t apply the same tariffs as Germany and other European markets, but relative pricing suggests the 7GT could undercut the 7X when it arrives here.
The 7GT range for the European market opens with a rear-wheel drive Core model powered by a 310kW/440Nm motor and 75kWh battery, offering a claimed WLTP range of 519km and a 0-100km/h sprint of 5.3 seconds on 19-inch alloy wheels.
An 800V electrical architecture supports fast charging up to 480kW. A 10 to 80 percent charge can be completed in just 13 minutes.
For an additional 5,000 euros ($8,297), the mid-range 7GT Long Range uses the same powertrain with a larger 100 kWh battery, extending the range to 655 km, according to WLTP.
The flagship Privilege AWD Launch Edition increases power to 475kW/710Nm with a second motor enabling all-wheel drive, paired with the 100kWh battery, 20-inch wheels, four-piston front brakes and active air suspension.
The claimed range is 558 km and the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.3 seconds.
Inside, the 7GT features a 35.5-inch augmented reality head-up display, a 15-inch central touchscreen and a 13-inch digital instrument cluster.
Standard equipment on European models includes a leather steering wheel, textile seat covers – with nappa and synthetic covers on the launch editions – and wireless mobile phone charging.
There’s also a power tailgate, 456 liters of rear cargo space and 65 liters under the bonnet, with the platform featuring a multi-link rear suspension.
Advanced driver assistance systems include adaptive cruise control, lane change assistant, remote parking assistant with “drag & drop fingertip parking” and over-the-air updates (OTA).
A revised 7GT has just been presented in China, which has a new 900 V electrical system and either 75 kWh or 103 kWh batteries.
Rear-wheel drive variants now produce 370kW and 535Nm – good for 0-100km/h acceleration in 4.8 to 5.0 seconds – while four-wheel drive variants with two motors have a total system output of 585kW and 812Nm, which equates to 0-100km/h acceleration in 2.85 seconds.
The 7GT, 8X and 9X will expand Zeekr Australia’s offering as a surge in electric vehicle sales has driven 768.2 per cent year-on-year growth, led by the 7X, which launched last October.
With 1,832 sales in the first three months of the year, Zeekr is ahead of sister brands Volvo (1,806) and Polestar (465), with all three brands belonging to Geely.
