Zeekr will introduce its first plug-in hybrid model in Australia, a large SUV that sits above the hot-selling 7X mid-size electric SUV.
“At this point, we intend to bring that Zeekr 8X “We are flying to Australia next year and we continue to evaluate the Zeekr 9X and 007 GT as part of our broader product strategy,” a Zeekr Australia spokesperson said Daily Sparkz.
“As always, our range will continue to evolve with market demand and we will confirm further model launches in due course.”
That suggests the 8X will be launched in 2027, but the larger 9X plug-in hybrid SUV and 007 GT electric wagon remain on the unconfirmed list for now.

The Zeekr brand was launched here at the end of 2024 with the small electric SUV X and the large people mover 009, with the 7X following at the end of 2025.
In China, the company has a broader offering, including the Mix electric people mover as well as the 8X and 9X, two of its latest models and its first plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs).
The 8X is the smaller of the two and sports a sportier design, although still with a traditional chrome waterfall grille like the 9X and 009. In Dawn guise, this is blacked out for a meaner, more monochromatic look.
It is 5100mm long, 1998mm wide and 1780mm high with a wheelbase of 3069mm. This makes it more similar in size to the flagship 9X than the 7X sold here; This makes it slightly larger than the Audi Q7, but only has two rows of seats.
The electric 7X is 4787mm long, 1930mm wide and 1780mm high on a 3069mm wheelbase, while the 9X PHEV is 5239mm long, 2029mm wide and 1819mm high on a 3169mm wheelbase.
The 8X features a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 205kW of power, paired with up to three electric motors and either a 55.1kWh or 70kWh battery.
In Dawn design, the 8X has three electric motors for a total system output of 1030 kW and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.96 seconds; Even as a dual engine, it produces up to 660 kW and manages the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 3.7 seconds.
With a 70 kWh battery, the combined range is 1,416 km on the CLTC cycle, dropping to 1,210 km on the Dawn. Car news China reports a purely electric range of up to 410 km in the CLTC cycle. A full list of specifications is not yet available on Zeekr’s Chinese website.
A 900 V on-board electrical system supports ultra-fast DC charging at 6 °C.
The 8X has a two-chamber air suspension with continuously controlled double-valve damping. The Dawn also features Brembo six-piston front brakes and Pirelli tires.
Inside, the 8X features a massive 16-inch 3.5K resolution OLED screen, as well as a 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster and a 44-inch augmented reality head-up display.
Luxury features include a 29-speaker Naim Palace sound system, a ceiling-mounted 17-inch 3K OLED rear screen, a 9.5-liter refrigerator compartment that can also be heated up to 50°C, and heated, ventilated and Nappa leather-upholstered massage seats.
Like fellow Geely-owned brand Geely Auto, Zeekr also puts a lot of emphasis on storage compartments, with the 8X reportedly having 50 of them in the cabin.
It’s unclear how much the 8X will cost when it arrives in Australia. Prices in China start at 376,800 yuan (A$78,600), below the cheapest 009 at 439,000 yuan (A$91,600). Here, the 009 range starts at $115,900 before hitting the streets.
As for competition, the 8X will likely go up against rivals like the Lexus RX450h+ and BMW X5 xDrive50e.
