Volvo EX30 EV: Repair due to fire risk imminent

Spare parts for a major Volvo EX30 The recall is expected to arrive in Australia next month, the brand has confirmed.

“Parts for the recall are expected to arrive in mid-May,” a Volvo Car Australia spokesperson said in a statement.

These parts are replacement battery modules for the small electric SUV.

“Each affected owner will be personally informed by Volvo Car Australia of the steps to be taken once the parts arrive.”

The EX30 has been the subject of recalls in various global markets due to an issue with its battery pack, with Volvo Car Australia recalling 2815 examples in January 2026.

A replacement recall in March 2026 increased the number of affected vehicles to 3,344. For comparison: Volvo Car Australia delivered 3,560 EX30s from market launch to the end of February 2026.

“Due to a manufacturing problem, the cell modules installed in the high-voltage battery can overheat at high charge levels. In this case, a vehicle fire could occur,” the company’s recall notice says.

Over 40,000 EX30s have been recalled worldwide due to this issue.
