The updated one 2027 Cupra Tavascan has been detailed for the world to see before production begins “in the coming weeks.”
The focus of the changes is a new entry-level variant of the Spanish brand’s electric SUV; updated digital displays and software; physical buttons on the steering wheel; and a new color option.
The updated Tavascan 2027 is set to launch in Europe later this year, introducing a new 140kW entry-level “Tavascan” model with a smaller 58kWh battery, said to offer a range of around 435km. It will be below the existing 77 kWh Endurance and VZ variants.
Although power is down compared to the existing range, Cupra says the base model’s 140kW rear electric motor “ensures a confident, engaging driving experience while maintaining the Tavascan’s driver-focused character and progressive spirit.”

More significant design changes have been made to the interior: the updated Tavascan gets a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, first seen in the updated Born, and gives the interface a new look that seems to be inspired by the Tindaya concept.
The central infotainment touchscreen also runs the Volkswagen Group’s latest Android-based software.
Like the updated Born, the new touchscreen interface provides access to new apps and smartphone-like features thanks to the Google-based operating system. There are also new electric air vents that pre-circulate the air and adjust its direction “depending on the occupant and the position of the sun” before the driver enters the cabin.
The steering wheel does away with touch-sensitive buttons and now has physical buttons. A new Mobile Device Key offers up to four digital keys that can be shared across compatible smartphones, in addition to one reserved for the primary user.
Cupra has also added vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality to the Tavascan, which allows the vehicle to act as a rolling power bank via an adapter to power external devices “such as laptops, e-bikes or fully equipped sound systems.”
Endurance and VZ models with the larger 77 kWh battery are only available with launch control, while all models now offer a proper “one-pedal” driving mode.
“This feature provides smoother deceleration, greater energy recovery and a more intuitive driving experience, which is particularly effective in urban environments and stop-and-go traffic as it allows the vehicle to come to a complete stop without pressing the brake pedal,” Cupra said in its media release.
The Sennheiser-branded premium 12-speaker audio system has also been improved and features the new Sennheiser double bass technology – which “uses psychoacoustic techniques to deliver deep, punchy low-frequency frequencies.”
“The result is a rich, enveloping soundscape that fills the interior with exceptional clarity and depth,” says the company.
Finally, Cupra’s striking metallic purple exterior color Dark Void joins the Tavascan’s color palette, which has also proven itself in the brand’s other model series.
While the majority of the Cupra range comes from various European countries such as Spain, Czech Republic and Hungary, the Tavascan comes from VW Group’s Anhui factory in China, where it is built alongside the almost identical Volkswagen ID.UNYX, which is sold exclusively in the Chinese market.
Daily Sparkz has contacted Cupra Australia regarding the Tavascan updates released by headquarters and is awaiting a response.
In 2025, the Tavascan was the Spanish brand’s second best seller in the local range, recording 339 new registrations in the calendar year, the same as the Leon small car. The Formentor crossover remains by far the best-selling Cupra in Australia, with 1490 units registered in 2025.
The said sales leader of the brand is expected to receive its mid-life facelift soon, probably at the beginning of the second quarter (April-June), i.e. around 12 months after the new model goes on sale in the European and UK markets.
