The MG 4 EV Urban The small electric hatch was offered at the price $31,990 drive away The vehicles will arrive at dealers from April 1, 2026 – although there is no information about semi-solid-state battery technology yet.

With this pricing, the new MG undercuts the GWM Ora, which is currently available from $33,990 on-road, and the GAC Aion UT, which costs $31,990 before on-road costs, although is temporarily available on-road from $30,990. The BYD Dolphin starts at $29,990 (excluding on-road costs).

The Urban will be sold in Australia alongside an updated version of the regular MG 4, which currently starts at $37,990 before on-road costs for the entry-level Excite.

Unlike its rear/all-wheel drive sibling, the Urban is offered exclusively in single-motor, front-wheel drive versions with a choice of two battery sizes. However, the much-hyped semi-solid battery technology expected overseas has yet to be confirmed for Australia.

MG hasn’t provided official range figures for Australia, but Chinese market versions claim a range of up to 437km with the smaller battery and 530km for the Long Range, both based on the milder CLTC cycle.

Outputs for local models have not been confirmed, but Chinese versions produce between 110kW and 118kW with 250Nm of torque, with 0-100km/h acceleration claimed to be just 9.5 seconds.

The Urban is 4395 mm long, 1842 mm wide and 1551 mm high with a wheelbase of 2750 mm. This makes it 108mm longer, 6mm wider and up to 47mm higher than the existing MG 4, along with a 45mm longer wheelbase.
