Samsung’s next folding phone could be a disappointment when it comes to battery. Even though the Galaxy Z Flip 7 suffered modest battery damage, its successor may not bring a similar upgrade. This is quite a disappointment for anyone expecting Samsung to improve the battery life of its clamshell phone.
What’s in the leak?
According to a GalaxyClub According to reports, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could use dual battery cells with a capacity of 1,150 mAh and 3,024 mAh. This gives a total rated capacity of 4,174 mAh, expected to be marketed as 4,300 mAh. If the leak is true, it would mean that the Galaxy Z Flip 8’s battery is basically identical to that of the Z Flip 7.
Samsung’s 2025 clamshell phone made a small jump in battery capacity, but given the older battery size, even that small jump was appreciated. Aside from the battery details, the report also covered the launch window of the Galaxy Z Flip 8. It looks like Samsung will stick to its usual timelines and release the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 sometime in July.
Currently, Samsung has not confirmed any official details about its next flip phones. However, the theme could be incremental upgrades again. Just like the standard Galaxy S26 models, the brand only seems to be updating the higher-end devices in its premium line. The Galaxy S26 Ultra gets new features like the Privacy Display, while the Z Fold 8 is said to offer a crease-free display experience. However, this is still just an unconfirmed report, so you should take this news with caution.
