The highly anticipated remake of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag could be a lot closer than Ubisoft fans expected. A new report from Insider Gaming, the studio’s upcoming remake titled Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is set to release on July 9, 2026.
The game was originally scheduled to release on April 16, but Ubisoft has reportedly postponed the announcement.
When will it be revealed?
The release of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is no longer a question of if, but only of when. According to Insider Gaming, a roughly 30-minute presentation of the game was shown to media and content creators on April 16, although the public reveal was postponed. If this part is true, it suggests that Ubisoft is already in the middle of the marketing handoff and may just be pushing back the timing rather than changing the plan.
The rumored release date of July 9th also leaves very little wiggle room between the reveal and the final release, making the whole thing feel more immediate.
What changes in the new Black Flag?
Insider Gaming also offers a notable detail about the game itself. According to the presentation cited in the report, Black Flag Resynced is not an RPG. This is big news considering that newer titles have adopted more RPG elements compared to the first titles in the series. The wording that describes Black Flag Resynced is “solo adventure and character-driven experience,” which is reassuring news for fans who feared Ubisoft might overwork the original to the point where it loses its identity.
Currently, Ubisoft has not officially confirmed the title, release date, and release time. But the report gives the impression that it is right on the doorstep. And for a remake that fans have been whispering about for ages, that’s a pretty exciting place to be.
