Reform UK launches podcast to bypass media and reach voters directly

Reform UK is venturing into podcasting with a weekly show giving listeners a behind-the-scenes look at Nigel Farage and senior figures in the party. This is the first time that a British political party has produced its own audio program.

The first episode, which will be released on Saturday, will feature footage from Reform’s campaign ahead of the local elections, including conversations with supporters and critics. Subsequent editions will follow Farage’s campaigning efforts in Wales and Scotland, while also covering key policy announcements in detail. The show will be available on Spotify and Apple, but the party has confirmed there are no plans to appoint a regular presenter.

The move represents a significant escalation of Reform’s wider digital media strategy, which has already seen the party invest tens of thousands of pounds in an in-house television studio. Farage has a social media following of almost 7.3 million across

This digital dominance has translated into noticeable political dynamics. According to a study by JL Partners for the think tank Onward, Reform now leads national polls and is the most popular party among Gen Z men. The party’s heavy use of TikTok is widely seen as a driving force behind the surge in support among younger voters.

The podcast launch also highlights the growing tension between political parties and traditional broadcast media. Farage already hosts a primetime show on GB News, a channel that has repeatedly come under scrutiny from Ofcom for its use of politicians as presenters. Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy argued that Farage’s show undermines public trust in news broadcasts.

Reform’s digital success has not gone unnoticed by its competitors. The prime minister joined both TikTok and Substack late last year, while Labor has hired FourOneOne, a digital marketing agency backed by Silicon Valley investors including LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, to run a campaign to reform TikTok. The party has further strengthened its online presence following Robert Jenrick’s departure from the Conservatives, with the former shadow justice secretary building a significant profile through attention-grabbing social media content.

Farage said the podcast would bring listeners closer to the party’s activities in a way that no other political organization had attempted, describing it as providing access to all aspects of the Reform’s activities.
