Recall of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class | Daily Sparkz

Mercedes-Benz Australia is recalling three A-Class vehicles to resolve a possible manufacturing defect that could result in the interior door latch failing and the door being unable to be opened from the inside.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the cable connecting the handle of one or more doors to the internal unlocking mechanism may be incorrectly installed and could become detached. In this case, the affected door may not be able to be opened from inside the vehicle,” the recall notice states.

“If the occupant(s) are unable to exit the vehicle in an emergency, the risk of injury or death to the vehicle occupants could increase.”

It is the first time the A-Class has been recalled since 2024, when two separate notices were issued – one for a problem with the power steering electronic control unit, the other for correcting incorrect fuel economy stickers on the windows.

Mercedes-Benz Australia said it will contact the affected owners in writing to arrange an appointment to have the fault fixed free of charge.

Affected owners can contact Mercedes-Benz on 1300 762 718 or email cs.aus@cac.mercedes-benz.com.au.
