Leaked! Meet Korea’s most luxurious and expensive SUV to date

Genesis’ The new flagship SUV has dropped the stealth early, and a leaked image reveals that it will be offered in two different versions.

The image, taken during a presentation and shared by shorts_car on Instagram, shows two different GV90s parked alongside Genesis’ existing fleet of SUVs, consisting of the GV60, GV70, GV80 and GV80 Coupe.

One features distinctive, almost Maybach-like wheels, like those offered on the updated Electrified G80 sedan and the long-wheelbase version of the flagship G90 sedan.

This particular GV90, as Genesis’ new flagship is expected to be called, also appears to feature a pair of rear-hinged coach doors.

As previous spy photos showed, Genesis will offer the production GV90 without the B-pillar and with those Rolls-Royce-style doors. This configuration is expected to be offered with higher trim levels, giving Genesis an ultra-luxurious version of its most expensive SUV.

It’s possible that Genesis could offer the GV90 with two different wheelbase lengths, as is the case with the G90 sedan.

The Korean Car Blog reports that the GV90 will also be offered with conventional front-hinged rear doors – a configuration that appears to be visible in the second from the right in this image.

The outlet reports that the GV90 will utilize Hyundai Motor Group’s new eM electric vehicle (EV) platform with next-generation battery technology, likely coupled with dual-motor all-wheel drive as standard.

It is unclear whether the GV90 will also be offered with an EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) powertrain. Genesis has already announced plans to introduce its first EREVs, which feature a gasoline engine that doesn’t directly power the wheels but instead serves to charge the battery.

The production SUV is very similar to the Neolun concept presented in 2024.

While bus doors are common on concept cars, they usually disappear when a vehicle goes into production. However, Genesis said at the time that the concept’s door and pillar configuration had “reached a level where its application to production vehicles is now feasible.”

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which also has Coach doors, still has a B-pillar.

The Neolun concept also featured a four-seat configuration with swivel front seats and electrically deployable side steps. It is unclear whether these features will be available in the production vehicle.

The GV90 isn’t the only new Genesis SUV in the pipeline.

Genesis also plans to produce the X Gran Equator off-roader concept, which was unveiled earlier this year.
