After sales and deliveries were paused in March, the new generation is coming Hyundai Palisade has now been recalled due to a defect in the seat folding mechanism.
“Due to a software issue, the power folding mechanism of the second and third row seats may not detect an occupant or object and may not stop the folding function when activated,” the company says in the recall notice.
“A folding seat that cannot detect an occupant increases the risk of causing serious injury or death to an occupant in or around the folding seat when the vehicle’s walk-in and power-folding seat functions are activated.”

This comes after a two-year-old child died in the US state of Ohio on March 7th. Sales and deliveries of the large SUV have also been halted in the U.S. and other markets where the Palisade is sold, including South Korea.
- In total 2242 vehicles are affected, produced between 2025 and 2026

Hyundai Australia will contact owners and advise them to make an appointment with an authorized Hyundai dealer to have the software applied. Alternatively, this can be applied wirelessly if the Palisade is registered for Bluelink.
