The original Hyundai Ioniq Electric The hatch is now subject to a nationwide product safety recall due to a possible short circuit that could lead to a vehicle fire.
“A software problem in the battery management system (BMS) may cause an electrical short circuit during charging or parking, which could result in a vehicle fire,” Hyundai said in its recall notice, which mirrors the recall notice for the corresponding Kona Electric also issued today.
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders and/or property damage.”
