If you’ve ever been in a meeting where half the team is speaking in one language and the other half is politely nodding while secretly lost, then your days of embarrassing “Uh-huh” calls are over. Google Meet brings voice translation to mobile devices. After its web debut, Google Meet’s voice translation feature is now rolling out to Android and iOS. It translates spoken audio in near real-time, helping teams around the world communicate more naturally.
Languages you can use to impress
The feature currently supports bidirectional translation between English And:
- Spanish
- French
- German
- Portuguese
- Italian
However, only one language pair is active per meeting. So if you dream of a multilingual festival with three languages spoken at once, then Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Conference rooms can also listen
Those entering a physical meeting room will still hear translations, but your own speech will not yet be translated. It acts as your personal audience that receives the multilingual applause. On the contrary, admins, the language translation will be Default ONbut you can turn it on or off at the organizational unit (OU) level. For rapid release domains, the gradual release begins on April 8, 2026 (up to 15 days for full visibility), and the domains with scheduled publishing start a little later, on April 23, 2026 (up to 15 days).
