Cupra is recalling almost 1,700 electric cars Born Hatchback models manufactured between 2022 and 2023 to resolve a possible fault in the model’s battery.
“Due to a manufacturing problem, the cell modules installed in the high-voltage battery may be defective, which could lead to thermal overload and thus a vehicle fire. In addition, this may lead to a reduction in range,” the recall notice states.
“A (check engine) warning light may come on in the instrument cluster.

“A reduction in range and/or a vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders and/or property damage.”
Cupra encourages owners to do this Limit charging to a maximum of 80 percent and avoid using high-voltage chargers until your vehicle can be serviced by technicians.
The company also recommends drivers do this Park vehicles outdoors while maintaining a “sufficient distance from properties” and other cars.
