Mercedes-Benz G580 EQ recalled | Daily Sparkz

Mercedes-Benz Australia is recalling more than 100 examples of its G580 EQ manufactured between 2024 and 2025 due to a possible problem with the electric off-roader’s wheel bolts.

“Due to incorrect wheel bolts, the wheel connecting bolts may not meet the required specifications and become loose. If this occurs, this could result in the direction of the wheel changing and possible loss of control of the vehicle,” the recall notice states.

“Loss of control of the vehicle increases the risk of an accident resulting in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz in writing and asked to make an appointment with their authorized dealer to have the repair carried out free of charge as soon as replacement parts are available.

While this is the first recall of the G580 EQ – the electric version of the brand’s iconic G-Wagen – the German automaker recalled its GLC mid-size SUV and EQE large electric SUV in August 2025 due to an issue with the steering clutch bolts.

The G580 EQ was launched here in 2025 and cost $249,900 before on-road costs – around $100,000 less than the V8-powered flagship G63 AMG.
