Photos has expanded its Australian retail network to include nine dealers, bringing the nationwide total to 28 locations.
The Chinese brand is distributed by Inchcape, which also sells Subaru, Deepal and Peugeot, and now has branches in the Northern Territory and Tasmania.
Foton has also opened new sales and service centers in metropolitan and regional areas in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. You can view all Foton locations on the website.

“The continued investment in our retail and service network reflects Inchcape’s commitment to ensuring Foton owners have access to and are well supported by a high-quality network of national support,” Foton Australia general manager Glen Cooper said in a press release.
With the network expansion, Foton now operates dealers in all states and territories in Australia.
In contrast, competitor JAC has 47 locations but is not present in Tasmania or the Northern Territory.
While the Foton nameplate continues to be used on heavy-duty vehicles in Australia, its presence in the local ute market has been less consistent.
During its initial sales launch in Australia, which lasted from 2012 to 2019, Foton went through two distributors and then a factory-based operation before fizzling out.
Models such as the Sauvana SUV and View Van proved short-lived, with Foton best known for the Tunland Ute, which the company offered from 2012 to 2019.
This nameplate returned to the Australian market last year with a new generation ute range, priced at $39,990 (excluding on-road costs).
The V7 is larger than competing subs, although not quite as large as America’s full-size pickups and their design apes. It has a payload of over 1000kg and a live rear axle with leaf springs, while the V9 has a multi-link arrangement at the rear and is aimed more at private buyers.
The first deliveries of the Tunland V7 and V9 took place in November 2025, and in January 2026 Foton moved 120 examples across the entire Tunland range – just ahead of the JAC T9 (118), the KGM Musso (112 units, including the independent electric Musso) and on par with the tally of the LDV Terron 9.
However, it lagged behind the also new MG U9 (216 units), not to mention longer-running budget models like the LDV T60 (301) and the GWM Cannon (957, including the larger Cannon Alpha).
