If you own a power bank, you need to check whether it is a faulty model. Casely has issued a recall for approximately 429,200 units of Casely Power Pods through the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The lithium-ion battery inside can overheat and ignite, posing a serious fire and burn hazard.
Why was the Casely Power Bank recalled?
This is not the first time that Casely has recalled these power banks. The original recall occurred in April 2025 after 51 consumers reported the battery overheating, expanding or catching fire. Six people suffered minor burns at the time.
Since then, 28 further incidents have been reported, some of which had fatal consequences. In August 2024, a 75-year-old woman in New Jersey was charging her phone with the power bank on her lap when it caught fire and exploded. She suffered second and third degree burns and later died as a result.
How to check if your Casely power bank is affected
The recalled product is the Casely Power Pods 5000mAh MagSafe Portable Cell Phone Charger. Look for the model number E33A on the back and the word “Casely” engraved on the front right of the plate.
If you own this particular model, you should stop using it immediately. Do not throw it in regular trash or recycle it at the curb as lithium-ion batteries require special disposal. Contact your local municipal household hazardous waste collection site in advance to confirm that they accept recalled lithium-ion batteries.
How to get a replacement or refund
Visit the website to receive a free replacement or $60 credit. You’ll need to fill out an online form and upload two photos: one showing the front of the power bank with the word “Recalled” and the date written in permanent marker, and one showing the model number on the back.
Once your details have been verified, the option you selected will be processed. Replacement devices will ship in approximately 2 to 4 weeks and all gift cards will be sent digitally.
Casely isn’t the only brand facing this problem. The popular Haribo power bank was also recalled last December due to incorrect battery alignment and structural defects. If you are looking for a MagSafe power bank, you should check out the recently released Baseus PicoGo AM31 Qi2 power bank.
