Samsung could soon take a page from Nothing and bring AI-generated apps directly to Galaxy phones. In a recent interview, a Samsung executive suggested that the company is exploring the idea of ”vibe coding,” where users simply describe what an app should do and an AI system writes the code for them.
The idea came about during TechRadar’s conversation with Won-Joon Choi, head of Samsung’s mobile experience department. When asked about the possibility of bringing Vibe coding to Galaxy devices, Choi said it is “something we are looking into.” The concept, he explained, could open up entirely new ways for users to customize their phones, not just through apps but potentially through deeper changes to the device’s overall user experience.
AI that creates apps from simple command prompts
For those unfamiliar with the term, Vibe Coding is essentially AI-powered programming. Instead of writing code manually, users enter prompts describing the desired functionality and the AI generates the necessary software. This means that even people with no programming experience could potentially create simple apps or utilities for their phones.
A similar concept already exists on Nothing devices called Essential Apps, which allows users to create personalized widgets using text-based prompts. It effectively turns a smartphone into a miniature app building platform. If Samsung adopts something similar, the idea could reach a much larger audience given the size of Galaxy devices.
It’s worth noting that despite the talks, Samsung has not yet officially confirmed that such a feature will actually be available on Galaxy phones. But the fact that the company is openly discussing it shows how seriously the industry is taking the idea of AI-driven software creation. The Galaxy S26 series is already heavily oriented towards AI branding, with Samsung positioning the devices less as traditional smartphones and more as “AI phones”. If implemented, this could mean a big shift in the way people interact with their phones: from simply installing apps to building those apps on-demand with AI.
