The Denza B5along with his B8 The big brother wants to shake up a rather staid market for off-road SUVs.
While they have a body-on-frame construction like top sellers like the Toyota Prado, they only come with plug-in hybrid power.
Denza is the premium export brand of Chinese giant BYD, which sells a mix of vehicles under the Denza and Fangchengbao brands in China.

Orders for the B5 and B8 are open now, with deliveries of the former to customers beginning in late January 2026.
The B5 is slightly smaller than a Toyota Prado and only offers five seats. Price is $74,990 (excluding on-road costs) – $2,490 more than a base Prado GX.
In the top “Leopard” trim it costs $79,990 before it hits the road. This upscale variant not only offers more luxury features, but also features BYD’s DiSus-P adjustable hydraulic suspension. This allows the ride height and stiffness to be adjusted.
The first 2000 B5 and B8 customers will receive a free premium paint upgrade and interior upgrade valued at $1,818.

Drives and efficiency
Both Denza B5 variants feature the same plug-in hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive with electrically operated front and rear differential locks.
They feature double wishbone suspension front and rear, although only the flagship Leopard has adjustable DiSus-P hydraulic suspension.
The B5 has a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function that allows you to power small devices outside of the vehicle.
Denza has provided fuel consumption and electric range figures in both the NEDC and WLTC cycles. NEDC values can be found on window stickers.

Maintenance and warranty
The Denza range has the same warranty offer as BYD: a six-year vehicle warranty for 150,000 km and an eight-year battery warranty for 160,000 km.
A service system with maximum prices is also in the works, but prices are not yet available.
Security
The Denza B5 has yet to be assessed by safety authorities ANCAP or Euro NCAP.
