Prices for the Nissan Z Heritage Edition: The special edition revives the iconic JDM hero color

Nissan Australia has announced the arrival of an extremely limited special edition Z-cut to celebrate the seven generations of the nameplate while paying homage to one of Japan’s legendary performance icons.

Just 10 examples of this 2026 Nissan Z Heritage Edition arrive in Australia all painted in Midnight Purple – a color change finish best known for the Skyline GT-R – and fitted with RAYS 19-inch bronze forged alloy wheels.

Price at $77,410 before on-road costsThe Heritage Edition only requires a small surcharge compared to the basic Z on which it is based. It is available with either automatic or manual transmission.

It’s worth noting that the Heritage Edition treatment was applied to the current pre-facelift Z Small facelift is coming later this year.

The Z line began in 1969 with the introduction of the Datsun 240Z, also known as the Fairlady Z in Japan. It was designed as a stylish, affordable six-cylinder alternative to the European sports cars of the time, with its sleek two-door proportions later distinguishing all Z cars.

This was followed by the 260Z, 280ZX, 300ZX (Z31 and Z32), 350Z and 370Z, with the current Z, launched in Australia in 2023, representing the seventh generation of the Z car range.

The use of Midnight Purple on the Heritage Edition honors a separate part of Nissan’s performance heritage. With a primarily purple base that changes to reveal hidden hues in different lighting conditions and viewing angles, the finish is best known for its use on the Skyline GT-R.

It first appeared on the “R33” Skyline GT-R in 1995 and went through two further “II” and “III” iterations leading up to the “R34” GT-R. The last “R35” GT-R, which rolled off the assembly line in 2025, was also painted in Midnight Purple.
