Ferrari Amalfi loses its top spot with new Spider variant

It may be a little heavier than the coupe, but that Ferrari Amalfi Spider promises fast-paced thrills paired with a V8 soundtrack.

The roof mechanism can open or close the roof in 13.5 seconds and works at speeds of up to 60 km/h. In topless mode, the roof is compressed to a thickness of just 220mm, reducing boot space from just 255L to 172L.

There are six roof colors to choose from in total, four for the more traditional “tailored” fabric and two for the “technical” fabric, whose interesting weave shimmers in the light.

The technical fabric can also be applied to the loading area and adjacent surfaces so that the material remains visible even when the roof is closed. Contrasting stitching is also available for the roof.

With its five-layer design, Ferrari claims the Amalfa Spider’s roof has sound and thermal insulation properties “comparable” to a retractable hardtop.

While the color palette is largely carried over from the coupe, there is a new Rosso Tramonto color that is exclusive to the Spider.

The hidden rear wing automatically adjusts to three positions depending on the speed of the vehicle (low drag, medium downforce and high downforce). A driver-activated electric wind deflector is also integrated into the back of the front seats, creating a larger air bubble with less turbulence in the interior.
