It may be a little heavier than the coupe, but that Ferrari Amalfi Spider promises fast-paced thrills paired with a V8 soundtrack.
The roof mechanism can open or close the roof in 13.5 seconds and works at speeds of up to 60 km/h. In topless mode, the roof is compressed to a thickness of just 220mm, reducing boot space from just 255L to 172L.
There are six roof colors to choose from in total, four for the more traditional “tailored” fabric and two for the “technical” fabric, whose interesting weave shimmers in the light.
The technical fabric can also be applied to the loading area and adjacent surfaces so that the material remains visible even when the roof is closed. Contrasting stitching is also available for the roof.

With its five-layer design, Ferrari claims the Amalfa Spider’s roof has sound and thermal insulation properties “comparable” to a retractable hardtop.
While the color palette is largely carried over from the coupe, there is a new Rosso Tramonto color that is exclusive to the Spider.
The hidden rear wing automatically adjusts to three positions depending on the speed of the vehicle (low drag, medium downforce and high downforce). A driver-activated electric wind deflector is also integrated into the back of the front seats, creating a larger air bubble with less turbulence in the interior.
Described as a 2+ seater, the Amalfi Spider has a two-person rear seat which is suitable for children but is more likely to be used as additional storage space.
Under the bonnet of the Spyder is the same twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 as the Amalfi coupe, producing 477kW at 7,500rpm and 760Nm between 3,000 and 5,750rpm.
The rear wheels are driven via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Although its dry weight increased by 86 kg to 1,556 kg, the Spider accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, just as quickly as the coupe.
The Spider rides on 20-inch wheels shod with 245/35 tires at the front and 285/35 rubber at the rear. Depending on their taste, buyers can choose between Pirelli P Zero, Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport and Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires.
Pricing for the Spider hasn’t been released yet, but we expect it to command a premium over the Amalfi coupe, which starts at $503,261 before options and on-road costs.
