Pricing for the update has been announced 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV range, which is now available nationwide and claims to offer “Outlander’s smoothest ride yet.”
Key changes include a revised appearance similar to petrol-powered versions of the mid-size SUV, improved infotainment technology including connected car services, specification improvements as well as increased hybrid battery capacity, improved powertrain performance and a revised suspension and steering package tuned here in Australia.
However, all of these upgrades also come with price increases, with the starting price for the PHEV AWD ES starting at $58,990 plus on-road costs, about $1,700 more than before. Seven-seat options are now rarer, with the previously five-seat Aspire Class (from $66,790) now the only three-row PHEV offering.

The flagship black pack-style GSR variant of the previous model has not yet returned for 2026.
Under the hood, the new Outlander PHEV features a new 22.7 kWh lithium-ion battery that feeds two “high-performance” electric motors and now offers a NEDC-rated EV range of 103 km or 84 km under the more stringent WLTP standard. Previously the NEDC rating was 84 km.
Combined fuel consumption has also fallen from 1.5 l/100 km to 1.2 l/km (NEDC), while the PHEV powertrain claims a system output of 221 kW – an increase of around 40 kW over the previous model. As before, a 2.4-liter gasoline engine can act as a generator or drive the front wheels directly.
Another significant change is the new suspension and steering tuning, developed alongside the petrol model in Australia. Updates include recalibrated front and rear shock absorbers and a smaller diameter front anti-roll bar.
Mitsubishi says the Outlander PHEV’s electric power steering (EPS) mapping has “also been adjusted to improve on-center feel and linear response to cornering.” A new steel hood and front fenders are also said to improve interior noise insulation, coupled with new “summer-specific” Bridgestone tires to “improve on-road performance and refinement.”
As before, the Outlander PHEV range is covered by Mitsubishi Australia’s 10-year conditional vehicle warranty, including 10 years of service and roadside assistance at maximum price.
The “conditional” aspect is that vehicles must be serviced at a Mitsubishi dealer at the specified intervals to activate full decade coverage. Otherwise, standard coverage is five years or 100,000 km – similar to alliance partner Nissan.
