Mercedes-Benz brought this onto the market 2026 Mercedes-Maybach SL680 in Australia, where the German premium car brand’s new flagship roadster is now available at this price $463,900 before on-road costs.
This makes the first Maybach version of the SL the most expensive model Mercedes-Benz currently offers in Australia, apart from the Mercedes-Maybach S680 sedan, which cost $573,192 before on-road launch.
As a result, the fourth Maybach-badged model for sale here will be more expensive than the lower-performance V8-powered Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 large SUV ($409,900 plus ORCs) and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS680 large electric SUV ($331,600 plus ORCs).

The SL680 stands at the top of the SL range and is considered the sportiest Mercedes-Maybach model to date. It combines the same V8 engine power as the Mercedes-AMG SL63 ($383,700 plus ORCs), but offers even more open luxury and a large helping of bespoke details.
At the heart of the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680, first revealed in August 2024 and then confirmed for Australia in October 2024, is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine producing 430kW of power and 800Nm of torque.
Power is transmitted to all four wheels via Mercedes-Benz’s 4Matic+ all-wheel drive, enabling the luxury roadster to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 4.1 seconds.
While performance remains the focus, Mercedes-Benz says the SL680 features Maybach-specific suspension tuning designed to prioritize ride comfort and refinement without compromising dynamic performance.
Standard features include Active Ride Control suspension damping and rear axle steering, which can turn the rear wheels up to 2.5 degrees to improve both low-speed agility and high-speed stability.
The powertrain is mated to a nine-speed Speedshift MCT 9G automatic transmission with a special Maybach driving program, while dynamic engine mounts and an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential also aim to improve both handling and comfort.
The SL680 Maybach differs from the SL63 AMG in a number of Maybach-specific exterior design elements.
At the front there is a Maybach radiator grille with vertical struts and integrated “Maybach” lettering as well as a bonnet painted in obsidian black and forged 21-inch alloy wheels, which are available in either a five-hole design or optionally in a multi-spoke layout.
Standard paint finishes include Garnet Red and Opalite White Magno, both chosen to contrast with the black hood treatment.
Buyers who want additional exclusivity can choose from more than 50 optional Manufaktur Exclusive paint finishes, and a hood in the body color is also available.
Mercedes-Benz also offers a distinctive Maybach-patterned hood created using the brand’s PixelPaint technology.
Starting with an obsidian black metallic base, the intricate Maybach pattern is printed directly onto the hood before multiple coats of clear coat are applied and hand-sanded, creating a particularly deep finish, according to the company.
Other outdoor highlights include:
- Illuminated radiator grille
- Chrome hood strip

- Decorative elements in high-gloss chrome for the side skirts, the windshield surround and the front apron

Inside the SL680, the focus remains on craftsmanship and comfort, with Nappa leather upholstery, a Manufacture Dinamica microfiber headliner and bespoke trim elements designed to emphasize the vehicle’s luxury positioning.
The sports seats feature a new floral upholstery pattern with embossed Maybach emblems, while the heated multifunction steering wheel combines wood and leather upholstery.
Further highlights in the interior include:
- Shaggy floor mats with “Maybach” lettering
