2026 Chery Tiggo 9 Elite prices: The Chinese brand’s largest SUV has now become cheaper

The Chery Tiggo 9 The range will be expanded, and a new, cheaper front-wheel drive variant will hit local showrooms in May 2026.

The Elite slots in under the existing Ultimate, with less power, fewer features, but a lower price.

The price for the seven-seat large SUV is $52,990 before on-road costs$7,000 less than the all-wheel-drive Ultimate.

In contrast to the related Jaecoo J8, the Tiggo 9 is only offered with a plug-in hybrid drive in Australia.

The Elite has a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 105kW of power and 215Nm of torque, as well as two front-mounted electric motors with 75kW/170Nm and 90kW/220Nm, like the Ultimate.

However, the rear electric motor with 175 kW/310 Nm is omitted, so the total output of the system drops from 315 kW and 580 Nm in the Ultimate to 225 kW and 450 Nm.

A smaller 19 kWh lithium-ion battery is also used (instead of 34 kWh). The electric range therefore drops from 170 km to 90 km in the milder NEDC cycle, and the DC fast charging power drops from 71 kW to 41 kW.

It uses less energy (15.6kWh/100km versus 19kWh/100km) while fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are a breeze – it consumes 1.3L/100km and emits 35g/km on the combined cycle, up from 1.4L/100km and 32g/km.
