The inside of the Volkswagen ID. polo was unveiled ahead of the full reveal of the electric light car sometime this year.
According to Volkswagen, the interior has been “systematically optimized based on customer feedback,” referring to the company’s negative feedback on the ID.3 and subsequent electric and combustion models.
One of the biggest criticisms was the use of capacitive buttons on the steering wheel and elsewhere. While recent new models and facelifts have addressed this issue, the ID. Polo goes one step further and introduces a new two-spoke steering wheel design with up to 11 buttons on each spoke.

The left spoke has controls for the cruise control system and sound system volume, while the right pad has buttons for the instrument screen, voice commands, heated steering wheel and track skip.
In front of the driver’s seat is a 10.25-inch instrument display that can be configured to display first-generation Golf-style dials. At the center of the dashboard is a 13.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, which can also be designed in a retro style and includes mechanical odometer-style gauges and a cassette tape media display.
Although the only climate control display is at the bottom of the infotainment screen, there are a number of physical switches below the vents to control temperature, fan speed, air conditioning, recirculation and dehumidification.
In the center tunnel, between the smartphone charger and the cup holder, there is a small volume control that can also be used to switch the sound system on or off. The driver’s armrest has a physical switch for each window and physical controls for the mirrors.
Volkswagen was once praised for its high-quality, almost luxurious interior, and the ID. Polo seems to be trying to recapture that former glory.
Unveiled over the weekend, the vehicle features seats partially covered in light gray fabric, which is also generously applied to the door panel, knee rests and lower dashboard, while the upper dashboard is covered in a black mesh fabric.
Future electric vehicles from Volkswagen will utilize the interior design themes established with the ID. Polo’s hut.
In mid-December, Volkswagen revealed many details about the new ID. Polo, which is based on the MEB+ architecture with front-wheel drive.
With a length of 4053 mm, the ID. The Polo will be about the same size as today’s petrol model. The 37 kWh base battery pack is offered with an 85 kW or 99 kW electric motor and supports DC fast charging up to 90 kW.
The larger 52kWh battery comes standard with a 155kW motor or in the GTI with a 166kW motor. This battery can be charged quickly with direct current up to 130 kW.
Prices in Europe start at around 25,000 euros (A$44,000), which is around 5,000 euros (A$8,800) more than the base petrol Polo. The petrol Polo will be available alongside the ID. continues to be built and sold. Polo for the foreseeable future.
