Tabber B. Benedict is the founder and managing partner of Benedict Advisors PLLC, a law firm founded in 2025 to provide BigLaw-trained legal services to lower middle market companies.

A graduate of Columbia Law School, he trained at elite law firms such as White & Case LLP and Schulte Roth & Zabel (now McDermott Will & Schulte). He also gained experience at the White House, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and ACE Limited (now Chubb), building a foundation characterized by high institutional standards.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, Tabber has helped close transactions totaling over $100 billion. His work includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, private equity and complex commercial matters. He serves companies from the idea stage to an enterprise value of approximately $150 million, providing Fortune 500-level insights to companies that typically do not have access to this level of advice.

Tabber was recently sworn into the Southern District of New York, one of the most prestigious federal courts in the United States, and continues to expand the forums in which he can advocate for clients. He approaches each matter with discipline and personal commitment, working with experienced litigators when cases require judicial strength.

Questions and answers:

Q: Let’s start at the beginning. What shaped your path into corporate law?

I was drawn to environments where decisions have real weight. That led me to Columbia Law School and from there to elite law firms like White & Case and Schulte Roth & Zabel. These years were formative. You will be trained to think precisely, prepare thoroughly, and anticipate consequences several steps in advance.

I also had the opportunity to gain experience at the White House, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and ACE Limited, now Chubb. Through these roles I learned how politics, regulation and large institutions actually work. It gave me a broader perspective beyond transactions.

Q: You spent years at BigLaw. What did you learn from this experience?

BigLaw teaches discipline. It teaches standards. It also teaches scale. I have worked on complex mergers, corporate financing matters and private equity transactions with a total value of over $100 billion.

But what stuck with me wasn’t just the size of the deals. It was the preparation. Every clause is checked. Every assumption is checked. This level of accuracy became fundamental for me.

Q: Why did you decide to form Benedict Advisors PLLC in 2025?

I saw a gap. Lower middle market companies often face demanding legal challenges, but do not always receive the attention of partners. I wanted to provide Fortune 500-class legal expertise to companies from the idea stage all the way up to an enterprise value of approximately $150 million.

At Benedict Advisors, we focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions, outside general advisory services and commercial litigation. The goal is not scaling as an end in itself. It’s precision and accessibility.

Q: How would you describe your approach to customers?

I am a trained M&A and corporate lawyer, but I respond to the needs of my clients. I take pride in my work and invest in every matter.

Sometimes a transaction turns into a dispute. Sometimes a strategic issue requires stepping out of the traditional comfort zone. In such situations, I work closely with experienced litigators, many of whom have more than 25 years of experience. Customers deserve depth, not improvisation.

Q: You recently took the oath of office in the Southern District of New York. What does this milestone mean for you?

The Southern District of New York is one of the most prestigious federal courts in the country. It dates back to 1789 and was founded in the Supreme Court. Admission is not just a qualification. It’s a responsibility.

It expands the forums in which I can advocate for clients. It also strengthens the institutional standards in which I believe. The bar association is small and enjoys a high reputation. I’m grateful to be a part of it.

Q: What sets Benedict Advisors apart from traditional firms?

It is the combination of elite institutional experience and entrepreneurial accessibility. Large corporations often receive direct partner participation. Smaller companies are not allowed to do this. I wanted to eliminate this gap.

We work with systematic excellence. This means careful preparation, clear communication and disciplined execution. There is no unnecessary bureaucracy. Clients contact the senior counsel directly.

Q: How do you define success in your practice?

Success is measured by tangible business results. This could be a transformative exit, securing financing, or resolving a complex dispute that allows a company to move forward.

Reputation is more important than short-term profit. Long-term relationships are more important than individual transactions. When customers return at every important milestone, it signals trust.

Q: Looking back 25 years, how has your perspective evolved?

Early in my career, I focused on mastering the technical side of transactions. Over time, I realized that law is also about judgment. It’s about understanding commercial realities and human dynamics.

I have built networks in New York, London, Dublin, Paris, Montreal, Miami, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles. These relationships reinforce that business is global, even for companies that start small.

Q: What continues to motivate you?

I enjoy solving problems that others consider unsolvable. Structuring a deal creatively. Mastering a difficult negotiation. Identifying a path where there appears to be none.

The core of my work is about helping companies move forward. This requires discipline, strategic thinking and partnership.
