On 2026 Tokyo Motor ShowSubaru will introduce two concept cars from its in-house STI tuning arm: the Electric Performance E STIand the petrol-powered one Performance B STI.
Very little concrete information about the cars has been revealed so far. The teaser package consists of a shadowy profile shot of both cars (above) and stylized sketches of their front ends.

The shape of the headlights, the hood and the exterior mirrors give the impression that the… Performance B STI based on the WRX.
Differences at the front include wider wheel arches, a thin red frame for the grille and a more aggressive bumper with larger air intakes.
At the back there is a massive rear wing. We can’t say if the Performance-B STI is based on the WRX Sportswagon/Levorg or if it has a new hatchback body.
It is powered by a boxer engine connected to the company’s symmetrical all-wheel drive system.
On the other hand, that is Performance E STI Concept is a completely new vehicle and features a grille-free front section with slim headlights. The front apron bears the STI logo, while the alloy wheels have gold decoration on the outer edge.
We don’t know what body style the Performance-E has, but there is a prominent roof-mounted spoiler. Subaru also promises “excellent aerodynamics and practicality” as well as “a driver-friendly layout and a comfortable, spacious interior.”
Other new vehicles on display at the Subaru booth include “prototypes” of the Outback wilderness, Forester Wildernessand the Trailseeker, a slightly redesigned brother of the Toyota bZ4X Touring.
Both the Outback Wilderness and Forester Wilderness feature a more rugged design and slightly more off-road capability. They’re already available in the US, but Subaru plans to offer the Wilderness sub-brand in Australia and other markets soon.
The timing of the delayed launch in Australia has yet to be confirmed, but with their appearance at the Tokyo Motor Show this hopefully means they won’t be too far away.
There will also be a presence in Tokyo Subaru GL Family Huckstera collaboration between Ken Block’s Hoonigan Motorsports team and Subaru USA.
Although it is based on the 1983 Subaru Leone, known as the GL in the US, very little remains of the original car as most of the body panels have been replaced with carbon fiber replicas. The chassis was also converted to a lightweight tubular space frame.
Under the hood is a four-cylinder boxer engine with an output of 643 kW, which transmits its power to all four wheels via a sequential six-speed gearbox.
