Sony introduces the INZONE H6 Air open gaming headset and purple earbuds

Sony has quietly expanded its INZONE gaming offering, and this time it’s not just for those gamers who treat every game like a competitive tournament. On April 14, 2026, Sony Electronics announced the INZONE H6 Air, an open-back wired gaming headset, along with a Glass Purple Edition of the INZONE Buds.

Unlike the closed-back headphones that dominate the current gaming market, the H6 Air takes a different approach. Its open design is aimed at players who prefer immersive story games like The Witcher or Horizon Zero Dawn.

What sets the INZONE H6 Air apart?

In general, open-back headphones are better for action-oriented gaming, primarily because they produce a wider, more natural soundstage. All of these features ensure that the sound feels like it is coming from your environment (as if the sound were natural) and not from your head.

The headphones feature the same 40mm drivers as Sony’s MDR-MV1 studio monitor headphones and are designed for great spatial depth and controlled bass. At just 199 grams (excluding the detachable microphone and cable), these are Sony’s lightest gaming headphones to date.

It also uses a similar spring hinge headband design as the INZONE H9 II for greater comfort. For a clear voice, there is a cardioid microphone aimed at the user’s mouth. Connecting the headphones via the USB-C audio box (included) unlocks the new RPG/Adventure equalizer preset, developed in collaboration with PlayStation Studios.

The INZONE H6 Air headphones retail for $199.99 and are available to purchase now through Amazon and Best Buy.

What else has Sony released besides the headset?

The INZONE Buds get a new color: a transparent “Glass Purple” colorway that complements the existing black and white options. Although the earbuds don’t have a completely transparent design, they do feature a see-through exterior with a very deep shade of purple and the brand’s lettering at the top.

The earbuds retail for $239.99 and are also available at Amazon and Best Buy.
