Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37. The duo continues its foray into the mid-range segment and features a mix of familiar hardware and sensible upgrades.
Both devices follow a tried and tested formula, but also update some aspects such as performance, camera improvements and durability rather than making major changes.
What’s new and improved?
One of the biggest updates comes under the hood. The Galaxy A57 is now powered by the Exynos 1680 chipset, while the Galaxy A37 runs on the Exynos 1480 chip, resulting in a noticeable boost in performance and efficiency. These chips are based on a 4nm process, which should also result in better power efficiency and sustainable performance compared to previous models.
On the camera front, Samsung uses a similar setup with a 50 MP main camera with a 12 ultra-wide-angle lens (8 MP on the A37) and a 5 MP macro shooter. However, the focus this year is on better low-light photography, with improvements to night photography and overall image processing. Although the hardware remains similar, Samsung is clearly relying on software and AI improvements to deliver better results.
Familiar setup and long-term support
The company is sticking with what worked on the older models. This includes:
- Bright 6.7-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ displays with a 120Hz refresh rate.
- 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging
- Fingerprint scanner in the display.
There’s still no wireless charging or a dedicated lens for zoomed photography.
The biggest highlight, however, is not the hardware, but rather the longevity.
Both models ship with the custom One UI 8.5 skin based on the Android 16 operating system as standard, and Samsung promises software updates and security patches for up to six years. This is a big problem in the mid-range segment, where most phones tend to fall behind when it comes to long-term usability.
The Galaxy A57 is available in Awesome Navy, Awesome Icyblue and Awesome Lilac with a starting price of $549.99. Meanwhile, the Galay A37 is available in Awesome Lavender, Awesome Charcoal and Awesome Graygreen for $449.99.
