Razer has developed a split ergonomic keyboard that, oddly enough, has a dedicated AI button

Razer has always been a gaming company at its core. So when the company quietly forays into the productivity segment and launches its first-ever split ergonomic keyboard, we’ll be talking about it. Introducing the Razer Pro Type Ergo, and yes, it has a dedicated AI button (similar to the newer Windows Copilot PCs).

How is the Pro Type Ergo different?

At its core, the Razer Pro Type Ergo is a wireless split keyboard designed for people who type for a living (like me) and whose wrists have paid the price. The layout physically divides the traditional QWERTY arrangement into two halves, each angled slightly so that your hands sit at a more natural angle.

In addition to the natural wrist angle, the keyboard also has several comfort-oriented additions. These include a padded palm rest, five adjustable tilt angles (from 4° forward to 7° backwards) and extremely flat keycaps.

Unlike traditional keyboards, the ergonomic split keyboard features two “B” keys, each on one side, so they are within reach of both thumbs.

What does the AI button actually do?

As I mentioned earlier, the Pro Type Ergo has a dedicated AI button that, like the Copilot button on Windows laptops, triggers shortcuts that let you summarize text, draft emails, or trigger custom actions (via Razer Synapse). Razer calls it AI Prompt Master.

There are two dials on the top left and right of the keyboard that add some style to scrolling, zooming, and timeline scrubbing. If that’s not enough for you, there are also five macro buttons and a microphone mute button.

The device’s connectivity options include HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C for up to five devices. But how long does the ergonomic keyboard last on one charge? Razer claims the keyboard will last three months on a charge, which is pretty impressive in my opinion.

Prices start at $189.99 in the US, which given the feature list and convenience on offer, is certainly one of those guilty purchases you make every now and then.
