The new Nissan Navara Warrior is expected to arrive in local showrooms before the end of 2026, but there is no information yet on whether there is a competitor for it Ford Ranger Raptor is in progress.
Nissan Oceania boss Andrew Humberstone confirmed that the hardcore variant of the Warrior will follow around six to nine months after the launch of the Navara Pro-4X – the highly specced variant on which the Warrior is based – but would not confirm or deny plans for a road-focused Navara Nismo.
“I’m not going to say yes or no to anything (regarding a Navara Nismo),” said Mr Humberstone – who is due to be replaced as chief executive in the coming weeks.

“We’re doing a lot with Nismo at the moment – looking at a lot of things – but we have our Warrior affiliation where we have a great partnership with Bernie (Quinn, CEO of Premcar). Great guy, great company – we work with them a lot.”
“We are continuing with Warrior, both for Navara and of course for the new Y63 Patrol in the future,” he said Daily Sparkz.
While the latest Navara shares its body, powertrains and platform with the Mitsubishi Triton, the Nissan version has received a local chassis tune from Premcar – an engineering firm that emerged from the ashes of Ford Performance Vehicles.
Premcar was originally tasked with developing off-road versions of the existing Navara and Patrol for the Australian market – identified by the Warrior emblem.
Both off-road ‘halo’ models are proving popular with Australian buyers, and 12 months ago exports of modified hardware from the predecessor Navara Pro-4X Warrior began to be exported to South Africa.
After previewing in November 2025, the second-generation Navara Warrior is expected to follow much of the same recipe as before, with a wider track, off-road suspension, underbody protection, a new wheel and tire package, and styling upgrades inside and out.
No changes are expected under the hood: the new generation Navara 4×4 is powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that delivers 150kW of power and 470Nm of torque via a six-speed automatic.
“(The new Navara Warrior) will come after our Pro-4X – we’ll start with Pro-4X, then we’ll probably have six to nine months to get everything ready,” Mr Humberstone confirmed.
Pricing for the Navara Warrior has yet to be announced. However, with the price of the new Navara Pro-4X almost $6,000 higher than the previous version, you can expect the new Navara Warrior to come in at around $79,000 before on-road costs.
