Mercedes AMG has revealed two things about its first all-electric sedan: the name and its interior.
The new high-performance electric vehicle will serve as a sequel to the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupe. Like the original, it will use a different platform than the two-door GT models.
In fact, the two- and four-door GT cars will have even less in common this time around, with the two-door models sticking with combustion engines and the four-door models debuting AMG’s own dedicated EV platform called AMG.EA.

Powertrain details have yet to be revealed, but we expect the exterior to be heavily inspired by the GT XX concept that was revealed midway through last year.
For now, we’ll have to make do with the interior, which like many luxury vehicles has three screens. Instead of living in one continuous plane above the dashboard or giving the impression of forming a single giant display, the GT 4-Door keeps all three displays separate.
In front of the driver there is a 10.2-inch instrument display as standard, and there is an optional 14.0-inch touchscreen for the front passenger. The most noticeable of the three screens is the 14.0-inch touchscreen unit in the center, which is aggressively angled toward the driver.
While the physical controls remain on the steering wheel and doors, the climate control functions have been moved entirely to the touchscreen. Thankfully, there’s a volume/off switch, as well as buttons for hazard lights and voice commands, housed in a small strip behind the two vented wireless smartphone chargers.
There are three larger dials along the center tunnel that control throttle response, steering agility and traction control intervention.
The car pictured is equipped with a Burmester sound system, carbon fiber trim on the door armrests and center tunnel, and rear air conditioning. Artificial suede adorns the steering wheel, seats and pillar trim.
There is a full-length panoramic glass roof with individual blackout zones for each outboard passenger and multiple layers of coating to reduce heat infiltration in summer and heat loss in winter. A roof with a carbon fiber pattern will be available in some markets.
Bucket seats for two people are standard in the rear, with a more traditional three-person bench seat available as an option. Regardless of configuration, split-folding backrests are standard.
