Jaguar says its engineering team has taken inspiration from iconic models from the company’s past, with the new model influenced by the E-Type, XJS and XJ series.
“From the outset our aim has been to deliver a true Jaguar. To achieve this we wanted to re-examine the brand’s heritage and the best way to achieve this was to drive some of our best models from the last 90 years,” said Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover.
“It provided a clear direction to help us create the most technologically advanced Jaguar ever.”
Jaguar had previously said it was conducting a “complete reboot” but faced heavy criticism after releasing a video showcasing the new brand direction.
Jaguar’s design chief Gerry McGovern was reportedly fired in 2024 – which was later confirmed to be untrue – but Mr McGovern recently announced he was leaving the company to start his own design firm.
As part of its realignment, Jaguar will no longer aim to compete with the likes of BMW and Audi; The company will instead aim to reposition itself as a more upscale alternative to the likes of Porsche and Bentley.
