The Genesis GV60 The base price has been reduced, bringing the premium small electric SUV below an important threshold and into an increasingly competitive area of the electric SUV market in Australia.
The updated GV60, first introduced in January 2025, will hit the market here in June 2026. Stock of the model before the update had dried up and it was removed from Genesis’ local website.
The base GV60 was previously priced between $103,384 and $110,384 (excluding on-road costs), but is now priced at $88,300 (excluding on-road costs).
This puts it below the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold of $91,387 for “fuel efficient vehicles” and is therefore eligible for exemptions from the Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT).

There’s a catch here, as the updated GV60 is now offered exclusively with rear-wheel drive; previously it was only equipped with four-wheel drive.
It has a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 168kW/350Nm, up from 234kW/605Nm and 360kW/700Nm in the pre-update range.
However, there is now a larger 84 kWh battery (instead of 77.4 kWh), and the range has increased to 561 km on the WLTP cycle.
A 10 to 80 percent charge reportedly takes 18 minutes with a 350kW DC fast charger, and there’s an improved battery conditioning system that’s said to “further optimize” fast charging performance.
A dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain will return with the hot GV60 Magma, also arriving in June, with a total output of 448kW and 700Nm and the same 84kWh battery. The price has yet to be announced.
The GV60 Advanced RWD switches from 20-inch alloy wheels to 19-inch wheels, its suede headliner trim is replaced with cloth, its Nappa leather seat trim is replaced with regular leather, and its 18-way driver’s seat is replaced with a 12-way model.
The heated rear seats were omitted, as was the electrical adjustment of the steering column.
However, the facelift brought with it Genesis’ new 27-inch OLED display, which integrates the infotainment touchscreen and digital instrument cluster.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain, but are now wireless, while satellite navigation now has an augmented reality mode that overlays footage from outside the vehicle with navigation instructions.
The over-the-air software update feature is now available for 45 items (up from 18).
Digital Key 2.0 functionality allows you to lock and unlock the vehicle from a distance of approximately one meter using Near Field Communication (NFC) and Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology with your smartphone or smartwatch. If these devices are UWB capable, you don’t even have to take your phone out of your pocket.
The digital key can be stored on one device and shared with up to 15 other devices.
The standard equipment also includes a 12-way electrically adjustable passenger seat; heated and ventilated front seats; Leather trim on dashboard, doors and center console; a hands-free power liftgate; and a wireless phone charger.
A comprehensive package of active safety and driver assistance technologies includes lane centering, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera with 3D view, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic warning, safe exit assist and Genesis Blind Spot Monitor.
Also standard is Remote Smart Park Assist, which allows you to move the vehicle using the key fob.
There’s now a handy detection for the new three-spoke steering wheel design, and Genesis claims steering response has been improved thanks to an “optimized” steering gear ratio.
Genesis engineers have also improved sound insulation in the rear of the cabin and improved windshield sealing to reduce noise. Vibrations are also said to be reduced by installing hydraulic bushings on the rear suspension instead of just the front.
The GV60 also features an enhanced regenerative braking system that monitors navigation and traffic flow data as well as the driver’s deceleration patterns to automatically adjust braking force.
Exterior changes include a new grille and front bumper, as well as revised micro-lens array LED headlights, as well as new 19-inch alloy wheels and body-colored (rather than gray) wheel arch trim.
The rear skid plate is also body-colored and there are nine exterior paint finishes to choose from, including the new Tromso Green Metallic.
Thanks to a new “fully aerodynamic 3D” underbody cover, the GV60’s drag coefficient is now 0.28 cd/m².
“The GV60 represents a significant step forward for Genesis in Australia, combining our most advanced electric technology with a newly accessible price point that fundamentally broadens its appeal,” Genesis Motors Australia boss Justin Douglass said in a statement.
“This is not just an update, but a clear repositioning of the GV60 at the right time for the market, offering premium design, innovation and practical usability in a way that makes electric luxury more attainable than ever.”
The GV60 isn’t the only electric luxury SUV to see its prices cut in recent months, bringing it under the LCT limit.
The larger Lexus RZ also received a significant update as well as range-wide price cuts of up to $42,059 and is now available for $84,500 before on-road costs.
The even larger Cadillac Lyriq is also now offered for $90,252 before hitting the streets by May 31, 2026, with discounts of almost $25,000 available to bring it under the LCT limit.
The GV60 is based on the special E-GMP architecture for electric vehicles and is technically classified by Genesis as a small SUV – in contrast to its “medium” electric SUV platform mates Hyundai Ioniq 5 and “large” Kia EV6.
Within the Genesis range, it sits below the mid-sized Electrified GV70. In 2025, Genesis Australia delivered 31 Electrified GV70s and just 15 GV60s.
