The local distributor for the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brand. Xpeng has set a specific launch date for further models in Australia.
TrueEV has made no secret that it plans to expand its offering beyond the G6 mid-size electric SUV, which debuted the Xpeng brand in Australia late last year. For example, the G9 large SUV and the X9 people mover have long been featured on the local website.
Now Xpeng has confirmed the release date not only for these flagships, but also for an updated version of the existing G6.
All three are scheduled to be offered for sale here in 2026.

In China, this model is offered with either a 235kW/450Nm single-motor front-wheel drive or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive electric drive, the latter featuring 235kW/450Nm front-wheel and 135kW/190Nm rear electric motors.
The people carrier features an 800V electrical architecture and air suspension, as well as a choice of 94.8 kWh and 105 kWh batteries. The claimed range is up to 740 km on the milder CLTC cycle.
Xpeng also recently launched an EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) version with a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine, a 63.3 kWh battery and a CLTC range of 452 km.
Luxury vans aren’t big sellers in Australia, but the X9 will enter a growing segment, taking on rivals such as the Denza D9 and Zeekr 009.

The midsize electric SUV, a competitor to the Tesla Model Y, has received tweaked exterior design including a new full-width front light bar, rear spoiler and new wheel designs, while the multimedia touchscreen inside has grown from 14.9 inches to 15.6 inches.
There are also changes under the skin: the improved rear-wheel drive version produces 218 kW of power, compared to 190 kW and 210 kW in the previous Standard Range and Long Range variants respectively.
The new AWD version features a 218 kW rear motor and a 140 kW front motor for a total output of 358 kW.
Xpeng G9L
An updated version of the Xpeng G9 will come to Australia under the G9L nameplate.
According to TrueEV, the announcement is expected to occur in the third quarter (July to September) of 2026, with deliveries expected to occur in the fourth quarter (October to December). The G9L has yet to be revealed.
Australian pricing for the five-seat SUV has yet to be announced, but it is expected to cost more than the G6, which currently retails for between $54,800 and $59,800 (excluding on-road costs).
At 4891mm long, 1937mm wide and 1670mm high with a 2998mm wheelbase, the current G9 is about the size of a Kia Sorento.
In China it is offered in either single-motor rear-wheel drive with 258kW/465Nm or dual-motor all-wheel drive with 423kW/695Nm.
Claimed maximum charging power is a heady 530kW, with a range of up to 725km on the CLTC cycle.
Other models
Xpeng has “two to three new global models in advanced development, targeting a range of market segments,” TrueEV’s press release said.
“As Xpeng ramps up global launch activity, its local strategy remains focused on aligning Australia with international product cycles, reducing delays and ensuring Australian customers can access the latest innovations more quickly.”
Xpeng sales figures are not reported in the monthly VFACTS sales reports, but TrueEV has confirmed there are now “over 2000” Xpeng vehicles on Australian roads.
That suggests the G6 has overtaken the Deepal S07 and Leapmotor C10 mid-size electric SUVs, which were launched around the same time but failed to record more than 1,000 local deliveries.
However, the G6 was significantly overtaken by the BYD Sealion 7, which came onto the market here at the beginning of the year and had already found almost 10,000 new homes by the end of October.
Xpeng vehicles are now sold through 18 retail locations across the country.
