The Australian Government’s Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) has announced that buyers of Volkswagen Group electric vehicles (EVs) – including Audi, Skoda, Cupra and Volkswagen models – will be eligible for discounted financing.
The initiative, announced on April 1, 2026, will see customers using Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) receive discounts of up to 1.0 percent on standard loan interest rates for vehicles below the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) “fuel efficient vehicle” threshold of $91,387.
Electric vans are also covered and are not subject to this LCT limit. The CEFC also notes that the discounted financing applies to eligible used electric vehicles.

From its $100 million fund to encourage electric vehicle adoption, CEFC will contribute 0.5 percent of the rebate, while VWFS will cover the remaining 0.5 percent.
“We are making it easier for companies to choose advanced electric vehicles, including those with future-ready features such as V2G, by removing hurdles such as high upfront costs and encouraging manufacturers to increase model availability in Australia,” CEFC chief executive Richard Lovell said in a statement.
“This investment will help reduce costs today and build a stronger market for affordable, used electric vehicles tomorrow, making clean transport more affordable for more Australians and their businesses.”
It follows a similar CEFC partnership with Hyundai Capital Australia – the finance arm of Hyundai and Kia – which offers discounts of between 0.5 and 1.0 per cent on standard finance rates.
“This partnership with the CEFC is an important step in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in Australia,” said Ralf Teichmann, managing director of Volkswagen Financial Services Australia.
“By partnering with OEMs and our extensive dealer network, as well as offering flexible financing options, we are making it easier for individuals and businesses to transition to cleaner transportation solutions.”
When it comes to electric vehicles, Volkswagen Australia currently offers the ID. 4 and ID. 5 SUVs and the retro-style ID. Buzz People Mover and its commercial ID. Buzz Cargo spin-off and the recently launched e-transporter van.
Other vehicles eligible for funding under the initiative include Cupra’s Tavascan, Skoda’s Elroq and Enyaq and Audi’s Q4 e-tron.
The move could help Volkswagen Australia reverse a sustained sales slump, with the brand expected to fall 20.6 percent in 2025 after falling 16.8 percent the previous year.
