Australian electric vehicle conversion company collapses, blames Ford

AUSEV’s parent company was declared bankrupt and Ford’s revised global strategy was blamed.

Founded in Queensland in 2012, BossCap is the owner of AUSEV, best known for importing electricity Ford F-150 Lightning Pickup trucks and their conversion to right-hand drive in Brendale, Queensland. The subsidiary counts Brisbane Airport and BHP among its customers.

In a statement to Yahoo Finance, BossCap – the company behind AUSEV and Advanced Manufacturing Queensland – blamed the Blue Oval, citing “the sudden change in Ford’s global manufacturing strategy”.

Ford confirmed that the F-150 Lightning was discontinued in mid-December 2025 after less than four years of production.

The Blue Oval’s decision to scrap the F-150 Lightning was said to be part of a strategic shift toward battery-powered vehicles – the US auto giant instead focused on developing electric models with gasoline generators, better known as extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs).

Despite “strong market interest and increasing sales”, the liquidators claimed that the inability to deliver vehicles had “significantly disrupted the company’s future pipeline”.
