Apple’s AI glasses will experiment with numerous designs and colors

Apple is finally entering the field of smart glasses. The company asks an important question: Would you actually wear these outside? This is the most important thing, because this is where most smart glasses fell apart in the past. Instead of settling on a single, safe design, Apple is reportedly exploring multiple frame styles for its first AI glasses. And no small changes either – we’re talking significantly different silhouettes.

There’s a bold, chunky rectangular version that takes cues from classic sunglasses. Then a slimmer, more subtle rectangular design that looks a little more executive. On the other hand, Apple is also experimenting with rounded frames, both oversized and more sophisticated – obviously in an attempt to cover as many style preferences as possible. In short: Apple is designing a small collection, and it’s a smart move. Because what works on one face can look completely wrong on another.

Colors that don’t play it safe

The experimentation doesn’t stop with shapes. Apple is also playing with different finishes and colors, going beyond the predictable blacks and grays. You can expect color options that are a bit more expressive, like deep blues, softer browns, and probably a few classic tones to keep things grounded. I think this is nice because different colors make it easier to recognize the glasses in a crowd. Apple definitely wants these glasses to look instantly familiar, so you can spot them anywhere in the room and just know what they are.

Interestingly, Apple also pays attention to what these glasses are made of. Instead of settling for standard plastic, the company is reportedly leaning toward higher quality materials; Something that feels durable, polished and, more importantly, worthy of the price that Apple will almost certainly be touting. Because if you ask people to wear a piece of technology on their face all day, it shouldn’t feel like a gadget. It has to feel like something you would happily choose even without technology.

The bigger idea

It is becoming apparent that Apple doesn’t just want to enter the market for smart glasses; it wants to redefine the category. And this is where the focus on multiple designs and colors starts to make sense. This is not about offering a choice for its own sake. It’s about increasing the likelihood that at least one version feels like you.

Apple’s AI glasses may be a while away, but one thing is already clear: the company knows that this product will live or die by design. Because no matter how intelligent the technology is, if the glasses don’t look right, they won’t leave the house. And Apple would love to do that.
