Amazon introduces the slimmest Fire TV Stick HD that no longer requires a wall adapter

Amazon just updated one of its most popular streaming devices. The new Fire TV Stick HD is officially here and it’s the slimmest Fire TV device Amazon has ever made. It’s available for pre-order now for $34.99 and will ship on April 29th.

What’s new with the Fire TV Stick HD and how is it different?

The new model is around 30% slimmer than the previous generation. It fits easily into the narrow space behind your TV and works with a short USB-C cable that plugs directly into your TV’s USB port for power. So you don’t need a separate wall adapter that makes things confusing. However, if your TV doesn’t have a USB port, a standard USB-C charger will suffice as a backup.

Performance has also been improved on the latest Fire TV Stick HD. Amazon says the new stick is more than 30% faster than the previous HD model, meaning apps load faster and the entire experience feels quicker.

Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 are also supported for connectivity. The redesigned Fire TV interface, introduced earlier this year, features cleaner organization for movies, TV, live content, sports and news.

What other functions does the new Fire TV Stick HD offer?

For users in the US, Canada and UK, Alexa+ is built into the stick. You can ask it for show recommendations, search for actors while watching, or control smart home devices with your voice.

There will also be an accessibility feature with adaptive display in the coming months. It enlarges text, menus, and screen elements while proportionally scaling graphics for a more balanced experience. Multiple size options are also available for further customization.

The stick will ship on April 29th in the US, UK, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, with other regions following shortly thereafter.
