Geely’s Toyota Prado fighter confirmed for the UK ahead of possible Australian launch

The Geely Galaxy Cruiser The off-road SUV has been confirmed for the UK market, opening the door for right-hand drive production and a possible launch in Australia.

The automaker was first revealed as a concept at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show, but has not yet made a formal announcement about UK sales of the Galaxy Cruiser Autocar Said Yan Tianxiao, head of marketing at Geely UK: “We will definitely launch this car in the UK.”

A boxy, rugged-looking competitor to the Toyota LandCruiser Prado and Ford Everest, the Galaxy Cruiser is based on Geely’s off-road “SEA-R” architecture, which also underpins the Zeekr 9X large SUV – a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) that the Geely-owned brand is considering for launch in Australia.

Like the Zeekr, it is expected to be offered as a PHEV and may share powertrain technology with other Geely-owned brands such as Volvo or Lotus, although no technical specifications have been officially confirmed.

Geely owns Zeekr, Polestar, Lotus and Volvo, among others, but only introduced Geely-branded vehicles in Australia in early 2025. The brand opened its first UK retailer in November last year.

Geely Auto Australia has not confirmed the Galaxy Cruiser for local showrooms, although the company’s UK rollout largely reflects its Australian launch strategy, including the availability of factory-built right-hand drive vehicles.

The EX5 midsize electric SUV was Geely’s first model in both countries, while it was followed in Australia last year by the Starray EM-I PHEV, a model confirmed to be launched in the UK this year.

The Geely EX2 electric city hatch was also announced for both markets in 2026.
