Don’t hold your breath expecting another compact phone from OnePlus any time soon

OnePlus caused quite a stir when it launched the OnePlus 13s, a redesigned version of the OnePlus 13T, outside of its home market. The phone practically sparked new excitement in the compact flagship space and offered better value for money than popular models like the Samsung Galaxy S25, but remained exclusive to the Indian market.

Now, Indian tipster Yogesh Brar claims that the phone’s successor – the OnePlus 15s – may not make it out of the Chinese market at all. When asked by an X user if the OnePlus 15s will be canceled, the tipster replied that there is a 90% chance of OnePlus canceling the phone.

The compact OnePlus flagship keeps slipping away

For those keeping up to date, OnePlus has been adding a lot of models to its flagship lineup lately. Take the OnePlus 13 series for example. It includes four models: the flagship OnePlus 13 and the OnePlus 13R, which were officially available in the US, as well as a compact flagship.

While the compact flagship of the lineup didn’t make it to the US, it was called the OnePlus 13T in the company’s home market or the OnePlus 13s in India, where it had a smaller battery. In total, the OnePlus 13 series included four smartphones, although not all of them were available in the USA.

Most recently, the company released its latest flagship here in the US, the OnePlus 15, along with the OnePlus 15R, both of which offer excellent value for money. Naturally, we were waiting for the company to launch its compact flagship, the OnePlus 15T, and hoping that its Indian variant – the OnePlus 15s – would make it across the Pacific too.

However, Brar’s claim reorients our expectations. Although he doesn’t provide any details, the tipster responds to a question about the OnePlus 15s, not the OnePlus 15T. So while there’s still hope for a compact flagship with a 6.32-inch screen and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the device may remain exclusive to China.

In other words, the company might have canceled the global launch of the OnePlus 15T. The reason is not immediately clear, but could be due to weak global demand for compact flagships, rising memory and component costs, and the possibility that the rumored handset’s price could clash with that of the OnePlus 15R.
