After almost ten years on Netflix, Stranger Things came to an end with the fifth season finale. Welcome to Derry goes much deeper into the origins of Pennywise and Derry’s dark history than the It films. The series is also far scarier, showcasing Pennywise at his most evil and devious while providing a powerful commentary on the true evils that still lurk in small-town America.

Dark (2017-2020)
This German science fiction series appeared over a year later Stranger Thingsand the similarities between these two shows are pretty amazing. While Stranger Things follows everyday people as they explore a parallel dimension full of monsters, Dark shows its characters traveling to different points in time through a wormhole opened by a nearby power plant.
Dark begins with a local child disappearing into the forest one night, setting the heroes’ journey in motion Stranger Things This happened with the disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp). But as Dark’s protagonists seek to save those they love, they discover dark and shocking truths about each other as they adventure through history, revealing how their bonds have spanned time and space.

As they all attempt to return to civilization, these castaways discover that the island is full of paranormal mysteries that have baffled audiences for years.

The show also became more epic in scope as the characters continually faced an evil, scary smoke monster very similar to the Mind Flayer. Although The Last of Us is definitely darker and less nostalgic, but offers enough terror and found family drama to satisfy fans of the epic Netflix series.

Although this sci-fi horror series received consistently rave reviews, it did not achieve the same level of popularity as Stranger Things. Both science fiction stories are about frightening coming-of-age stories in which the young protagonists deal with the monsters that live in their worlds.
