While the electric Hyundai The range includes a sedan, a sedan and too many SUVs to list Staria Electric is the automaker’s first electric people mover.
Based on the facelifted Staria, which was unveiled in late 2025 and is due to be available in Australia sometime this year, there is little visual difference between the electric and petrol, diesel and hybrid siblings.
Only the most dedicated car watchers will notice the electric badge on the tailgate and the remote charging port just above the front license plate.

The Staria Electric has an electric motor 160kW And 350 Nm Front wheel drive. It’s connected to one 84 kWh Battery pack that is said to be suitable for a WLTP range of “up to” 400 km.
Currently, the Staria Down Under is available with either a 200kW/331Nm 3.5-litre V6 engine driving the front wheels or a 130kW/430Nm 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine driving all four wheels. We miss the 1.6-litre turbo hybrid with 180kW/367Nm.
Although the Staria Electric uses an 800V electrical architecture, Hyundai did not specify the maximum charging rate, only stating that the car can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 20 minutes “under optimal DC fast charging conditions.”
The Staria Electric supports 11 kW AC charging and has a heated charging port to help people in cold climates. There’s also a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature, allowing it to power small devices, and a range of 100W USB ports.
The Staria Electric has a braked towing capacity of 2000kg and an unbraked towing capacity of 750kg.
Like other redesigned Starias, the Staria Electric features a revised dashboard with physical – not capacitive – buttons for the audio and climate control systems. In front of the driver is a larger 12.3-inch instrument display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the brand’s latest ccNC operating system.
The Staria Electric will be available in two configurations. The Wagon variant is aimed at shuttle and tour operators and offers nine seats with three-seater benches in the second and third rows. It is equipped with heated and ventilated front seats and has up to 1,303 liters of storage space in the trunk behind the third row of seats.
Because the luxury furnishings (pictured here) are aimed at families. There is room for seven with two second-row captain’s chairs and a three-person rear bench seat. It features heated and ventilated front and middle seats and up to 435 liters of storage space behind the third row, while power sliding doors and tailgate are standard.
All versions ride on 215/65 tires and 17-inch alloy wheels. Available features include a digital smartphone key, a camera to monitor rear passengers and a driver voice amplifier that allows easier communication with rear passengers.
Safety features on offer include autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera system, parking assist and adaptive cruise control that works with road sign recognition.
The color palette includes pearl black, white, pearl blue, silver metallic, pearl gray, pearl brown, yellow and pearl brown. A wide range of color schemes are also available for the interior, including solid black, black/beige, grey/cream, black/charcoal brown and black/burgundy brown.
The Staria Electric will be launched in South Korea and Europe in the first half of 2026, with other markets to follow. It is unclear whether Australia is one of these other markets.
