Motorola just unveiled a new smartwatch at CES, while also introducing its first book-style foldable phone and object tracker. Motorola’s latest wearable is aptly named Moto Watch and was developed in collaboration with Polar, a well-known name for wearable-based fitness tracking among competitive athletes and professionals.
What’s special about it?
The biggest plus point is of course the battery life. Motorola says its latest smartwatch can last up to 13 days on a single charge. In addition, the fast charging functions ensure all-day use with just five minutes of connection time. That’s a big sigh of relief, especially at a time when smartwatches only last two days at most.
The Polar partnership comes with its own benefits. For example, the intelligent calorie logging system also breaks down “the amount of energy used during exercise as well as daily calorie consumption.” It also provides insight into calorie burning goals during exercise.
Activity Score serves as a hub through which users can view their daily exercise statistics and measure intensity. It also encourages users to move when it detects extended idle sessions. The Moto Watch also goes deeper into analyzing sleep health.
What else is on the table?
Motorola’s latest smartwatch can break down sleep metrics, display recovery levels and provide a comprehensive overview of the stages of light, deep and REM sleep. It also offers a feature called Nightly Recharge, which is similar to the Apple Watch’s Sleep Score system.
According to Motorola, this is “an overnight recovery measurement that shows how your body has responded to stress, so you can adapt accordingly and achieve your training goals.” The Moto Watch’s build is IP68 certified, while location tracking comes with dual-band GPS support.
Speaking of specifications, it features a 1.43-inch round OLED screen protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. Motorola hasn’t announced the asking price yet, but says the Moto Watch will go on sale via its online store starting January 22 in the PANTONE Volcanic Ash color.
