Samsung’s Freestyle+ projector ensures a brighter picture on your movie nights

Samsung introduced its first compact projector, the Freestyle, at CES in 2022 and followed it up with a modest refresh a year later. The second generation model had some additional features. The standout feature was the ability to pair two projectors to create an ultrawide display.

Now, as CES 2026 approaches, Samsung has unveiled a new model that looks largely unchanged on the outside but brings with it the biggest upgrade the lineup has seen to date. Samsung says the upcoming Freestyle+ will offer “smarter AI features, improved brightness and expanded entertainment features.”

The projector offers a range of AI-powered screen optimization technologies called AI OptiScreen, including 3D Auto Keystone, Real-time Focus, Screen Adjustment and Wall Calibration. These features are paired with Samsung’s Vision AI Companion, a personalized platform that “integrates advanced Bixby with AI services from global partners to enable more natural, conversational interaction with on-screen content.”

The Freestyle+ offers almost twice the brightness

Most notably, Samsung says it has increased the brightness of the Freestyle+ to 430 ISO lumens, meaning it delivers almost twice the brightness of the previous generation. Other features are expected to remain largely unchanged, with the projector featuring the same cylindrical design and a 180-degree rotating base.

The Freestyle+ will also feature a built-in 360-degree speaker with Samsung Q-Symphony support. On the software side, the projector will have Samsung TV Plus, various streaming services and Samsung Gaming Hub.

Pricing and availability information is also under wraps and will likely be announced when Samsung unveils the Freestyle+ at CES in Las Vegas next week. However, the company has confirmed that the projector will be launched globally and will be rolled out gradually in the first half of the year. If Samsung sets the right price this time, the Freestyle+ could finally position itself as one of the best portable projectors of 2026.
