5. NEW Ford Ranger Super Duty: This blew me away… 4,500kg towing capacity, V6 engine
Speaking of hyped cars, our walkaround video for the new Ford Ranger Super Duty attracted more than 884,000 viewers after its release on April 4th.
Powered by a diesel V6, the Super Duty formula takes the standard Ranger and strengthens it in almost every way. Improved towing and payload capacities are one thing, but everything from new axles, wheels and tires to improved underbody protection shows that Ford is serious about building a ready-to-go pickup truck.
Paul also agreed and like the HiLux video below, you were drawn to this video even though there were no driving impressions or prices.
Paul’s verdict:
“Should I buy one? I’m very tempted. It’s a very good looking vehicle. Not that I’ll ever be towing 4.5 tonnes… I think the specs are really quite strong for a vehicle that can compete with much larger vehicles outside of its segment.”

4. MG Cyberster vs. Ferrari 812 competition DRAG RACE! V12 vs. electric
Our ongoing drag race series has been going well this year, but among the countless installments featuring wild supercars and modified special vehicles racing side by side, your favorite was our video pitting the Ferrari 812 Competizione against the MG Cyberster.
With more than 920,000 views since its release on March 7, Drag Race has been one of the more unexpected ones yet. The V12 Ferrari follows the classic Italian supercar formula, offering ferocious performance and a gorgeous soundtrack to create a truly special – and very expensive – car.
In the other lane was the MG Cyberster, a unique Chinese electric roadster with plenty of torque for just a fraction of the price of the Ferrari. The result? One of the closest races we have ever seen.
Paul’s verdict:
“That was a lot closer than I thought. I’m really surprised at how well it did against the Ferrari.”

3. ALL NEW Toyota HiLux, detailed walkaround review…did they do enough?
The year 2025 brought with it a lot of hype as Toyota prepared to launch its new generation HiLux. This was reflected on YouTube, where more than 940,000 of you flocked to watch Paul dismantle the new ute.
This is despite the fact that the video only went live on November 10th and shows how incredibly popular the HiLux is and how important it is to Toyota as a global brand. And that’s even before we’ve had a chance to tell you how it drives, as our first review won’t be published until later in the month.
Unfortunately, our overall impressions were mixed, as the new HiLux is essentially a remake of the model it replaces. It carries over the same cab and engine as well as a new interior and revised front and rear design.
Paul’s verdict:
“My honest opinion? I really don’t feel like they’ve done nearly enough with this car. It feels like Toyota just hasn’t really put much effort into this; it feels more like a facelift than a new car, which is fine, but the previous generation car is about 10 years old… it doesn’t feel like it’s a big step forward.”

2. How China Won: The 20 CRAZIEST Cars at the Shanghai Motor Show
Paul and Sean traveled to China for the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show in April and our video capturing the event has since received more than 1.3 million views.
The video, released on April 25th, is a detailed tour of what is now one of the largest automobile shows in the world. Once again this year, the brands in attendance spared no expense in showcasing crazy new concept cars, big new engines and models that will soon be hitting the market.
GWM showed off a brand new twin-turbo V8, Nissan introduced its new Frontier plug-in hybrid, BYD showed off several cars from its various brands, and even other Western brands like Ford, Toyota, Lexus and Mazda were there to display their latest and greatest (often China-specific) models.
Paul’s verdict:
“I’ve been watching car shows for about 15 years, and not only is this the busiest car show I’ve ever seen, at a time when car shows are in decline, but it’s just a hub of technology, a hub of new features and a hub of flying cars too. It just shows that the Chinese are on the rise, in a big way.”

1. NEW Best off-road SUVs: The 16 best mid-range SUVs in comparison – some fail our tests!
The long-awaited revival of our midsize SUV mega test was your favorite video of the year, racking up nearly 2.5 million views in just four months.
No fewer than 16 of Australia’s best-selling mid-size SUVs were put to the test in off-road conditions that deliberately pushed them well outside their comfort zone. This should show which of these 4×4 models is the most capable and give you peace of mind as to which one is up to the task if you ever need to go off-road.
The results were mixed: some models that performed well in our last mega test disappointed, while others unexpectedly blew away the competition. This is all well documented in the nearly 1.5 hour long video uploaded on August 8th.
Next to CarExperts In addition to our regular video team, this video also involved several other members of our behind-the-scenes team, including editorial team members Josh Nevett and Max Davies.
Paul’s verdict:
“I have to say a huge thank you to the video people, the social media people and the other editorial team who helped us here… it’s absolutely freezing out here. The Forester has gone from being one of the most capable midsize off-road SUVs to one of the least powerful… and the Hyundai Tucson absolutely blew it away in every one of our tests.”
